Sewing, Then Again Maybe Not

Lately I have had the urge to sit down with my sewing machine and start making lots of pretty things, like a few pillowcase dresses for the girls, some adorable bunting for their rooms & some curtains for the living room windows. There’s just one teensy little problem that’s stopping me… I don’t know the first thing about sewing. I have a sewing machine and I know what a bobbin is and that’s about the extent of it. Apparently my brain is delusional and thinks she’s Martha (I blame too much Pinterest).

Unfortunately, searches for “beginner sewing” and “how to sew for absolute beginners who don’t know jack about sewing” have not yielded much help. Even a lot of those no sew projects involve some element of sewing. How I wish I had someone to teach me such a valuable skill growing up. I would love to be able to pass down this almost lost art to my girls but have no idea where to start. I don’t even know where to begin with my machine or what all exactly I need to get started.

Do you sew? Know of any good books, videos etc. which would be a good starting place? Please share, I would love any suggestions!

Have a Blessed Day!
